Life in Reverse

When I was younger, I used to make resolutions. They were sometimes lofty, perhaps bordering on unattainable, but I figured it was good to set goals. I never really shared them with anyone and would often just brush aside any questions about making resolutions.

I don’t really make them anymore. It’s not so much because I don’t have any aspirations but I think the ones I have left are maybe a little mundane or pedestrian (and, no, I won’t be divulging any of them here).

Of the resolutions or goals I had set for myself in my younger years, I accomplished most of them. Armed with that information and knowing my past you can extrapolate that many had to do with travel, experiences, and learning about new cultures, often through foods.

I remember some older guests I was chatting with on a ship jokingly saying I was living life in reverse by traveling and visiting all sorts of countries earlier in life. Most people go through schooling, into the 9-to-5 grind and then travel closer to retirement.

To a certain extent I agree with those guests but what many don’t consider is that I was still working even if they may not believe it to have been “work”… but that’s a whole other post.
